Secured By Design

With a rising number of commercial projects specifying ‘Secured By Design’, window and door fabricators are increasingly applying for their products to be accredited against ‘Secured By Design’.

PVCu fabricators have had their products certified for some time, in recent times, Aluminium System Companies and their leading fabricators are looking to respond to the escalating demand for Secured By Design.

To obtain ‘Secured By Design’, a fabricator must initially have accreditation against:

PVCu.
BS7412.
BS7412/BS7950.

Aluminium.
BS4873
BS4873/BS7950

Timber.
BS644
BS644/BS7950

Steel.
BS6510
BS6510/BS7950

The above accreditation to be obtained from one of the following:

• British Standards institution Kitemark.
• BBA (British Board Agrément).
• BM Trada Q Mark.

Accreditation is maintained by annual testing and auditing from the above,

A Secured By Design license is held for three years.  In addition, the specified accreditation also requires annual testing and auditing, during the three year period and or for the length that their respective accreditation is held
